I just recently finished design a logo for Front & Center Marketing. The first thing I was fixated on was being able to use an ampersand in the design. Yes, I am a bonafide type nerd and LOVE a beautiful ampersand. Here is what I came up with:
Read MoreI got an iphone 5 just as they came out, not because I am a die hard apple fan, but because my previous phone was shattered and using it was risking glass splinters in my fingers. So, alas, the new iphone was purchased. I needed a case ASAP, but was dismayed when the apple store didn’t have ANY in stock. I bought a plain-jane one, knowing my track record of dropping the thing, but now as a little time as passed, I can’t help but be browsing for a snazzier one. Here are a few of my current favs:
where to find:
1. RoAndCo
3. Kate Kosek
4. Fab.com

These beautiful images were seemingly taken underwater or just a fog induced haze. Either way, the result is stunning.

This lovely Pitchfork interview of Bat for Lashes uses beautiful black and white images that come to life as you scroll down the page, creating a new way to experience the usually stagnent standard web articles. The design and functionality of the article compliment each other, rather distract from one another. It is refreshing to see the recognition of the process of reading in the digital format. Check out the interview here.
Read MoreIn my previous post I declared my love for the printed magazine and found it ironic to come across these photorealistic paintings by Stefania Fersini that same day. This Italian painter uses fashion spreads from magazines as her subject but applies another layer of texture of the paper itself to reveal another lens through which the viewer interprets the scene. More of her work can be seen here.

NY Mag just featured a compilation of some of the best indie fashion magazines. I have always been obsessed with print magazines, the feel of the paper and the smell of the perfume ads mixed with the glue from the binding, it is a hard to leave that behind for digital editions. Looking through NY mag’s list, the site’s for each magazine felt *almost* as inspired as the real thing. Here is one of my favorites, DuJour magazine, which is easily navigated and has some great typography.

Read MoreLately I have been trying to focus on bringing creativity into more aspects of my life, not just my job. Here are some inspirations I am currently going to try to add to my weekend:
1. I love all things Olsen and since growing my hair out, I have been lazy with wearing it straight or ponytails. Mary Kate’s crown braid is just undone enough not to make it too precious. {via}
2. I spend A LOT of time in my home office, but still have yet to put up my inspiration/mood board. I love the feel of this space! {via}
3. I have a new project to design a logo and research is always my first stop, designspiration.com being a regular go-to for me. {via}
4. This DRAWING by Sandra Jawad has not left my mind, and has really got my fired up to get back to my own drawing board. Still have a long way before I reach that level though! {via}
Read MoreBrad Pitt can do no wrong and I’m super excited for his upcoming movie Killing Them Softly. While the movie posters have been great for the film, the photographs for Brad Pitt’s Interview Magazine story are amazing. Shot by Steve Klein, these beautiful black and white photos have Pitt looking better than ever, even in eyeliner or with dreads. Here are a few of my favorites:

Upon coming across Norwegian artist Rune Guneriussen etherial photographs of swarms of lights, lamps, and other man made objects placed in rural parts of Norway, I couldn’t help but be reminded of Tim Walker‘s work. Both create fantastical worlds by building and installing elaborate sets that are then photographed. Guneriussen’s work is more focused on the relationship of the objects versus nature, while Tim Walker has an editorial and high fashion focus. The photos below especially show the similarities, regardless, I am still transfixed by both their work!
